Sailstar Explorer

Sailstar Explorer

Description

The Sailstar Explorer (also known as the Explorer 17 or Sailstar Explorer 17) is a classic American daysailer and small cruiser built by Sailstar Boats in Warwick, Rhode Island, USA, starting in 1960. It was designed by Talman Bigelow and Robert Baker (Baker also designed the O'Day Sprite and Widgeon). This lightweight fiberglass monohull is a stretched and refined evolution of the Flying Junior concept, offering good performance, stability, and a small cuddy cabin for occasional overnighting or storage. It's praised for its fun, responsive handling, easy trailering/launching, and suitability for family daysailing or club racing — a popular vintage boat with a loyal following.
