Saga 409
Description
The Saga 409 is a 40.75-foot masthead sloop designed by acclaimed naval architect Tony Castro and built by Saga Marine (later Saga Yachts) in Norway starting in 2005. This model represents a dramatic evolution in monohull cruising boat design, featuring an innovative blister-coachroof/deck-saloon configuration that opens up the interior while maintaining a sleek exterior profile. The construction showcases beautifully curved cherry bulkheads and doors that appear hand-carved but are actually super-strong vacuum-bagged laminated veneers designed to save weight while maintaining structural integrity. Built in fiberglass with a fin keel featuring bulb and spade rudder configuration, the boat offers excellent stability and good righting capability if capsized, making it ideally suited for coastal cruising with blue water potential.
