Sadler Starlight 35
Description
The Sadler 35 (more commonly and accurately known as the Sadler Starlight 35 or Starlight 35) is a British bluewater-capable cruiser designed by Stephen Jones (with interior by Jon Sherwill), built by Sadler Yachts (later under Starlight and Rival Bowman Yachts) in the UK; introduced in 1991 as a follow-on to the Sadler unsinkable series but without the foam-filled "unsinkable" construction of earlier models like the Sadler 34, it was produced until around 1997-1998 (with some MkII improvements post-1993 featuring a slightly larger rig), with approximately 50 units constructed. The fiberglass monohull features a masthead sloop rig, long waterline for good performance, moderate displacement with form stability and generous ballast for stiffness, skeg-hung or spade rudder options, and keel variants including deep fin (standard), shoal fin, or wing keel for versatility in coastal to offshore use; the spacious, high-quality interior emphasizes comfort and safety for extended cruising, with berths for 6 (V-berth forward, saloon settees convertible to doubles, aft cabin with double berth), U-shaped galley, enclosed head, navigation station, good headroom, and a secure cockpit with lines led aft; it delivers above-average sailing performance for its era—fast, long-legged, stiff in a blow, easy to handle single-handed or shorthanded, excellent upwind ability, and a tough, reliable reputation as a solid, durable offshore cruiser with classic lines, dry ride, and value in the used market.
