Sabre 30 Series I (Hull nos. 001-100)
Description
The Sabre 30 Series I (also known as Mk I or 30-1) is the inaugural production run of the iconic Sabre 30, a performance-oriented coastal cruiser designed and built by Sabre Yachts in Wiscasset, Maine, USA. Launched in 1979 as an evolution of the Sabre 28, it targeted sailors seeking a balance of speed, comfort, and seaworthiness in a compact 30-footer, with influences from the larger Sabre 34's reverse transom and tall rig. The Series I emphasized hand-crafted quality, including solid fiberglass hulls (no coring below waterline) and teak interiors, earning praise for its dry ride and forgiving helm in 20+ knot winds. With 100 hulls built, it's the most common variant of the Sabre 30 line, though subtle refinements led to the Series II (hulls #101–136) in 1983. Production: 1979–1984; designer credited to the Sabre team (often Roger Hewson-inspired).
