S2 9.1 Meter (Grand Slam) Tall Rig
Description
The S2 7.9 (also known as the S2 7.9 Meter or S2 26) is a high-performance one-design racer-cruiser designed by Graham & Schlageter (G&S) and built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan, from 1981 to 1986. Approximately ~500 units were produced as part of S2's Grand Slam series, targeting the Midget Ocean Racing Club (MORC) rule while offering light cruising capability. The "7.9" reflects its length in meters (26 feet LOA), and it's celebrated for its planning hull, fractional rig, and responsive handling—a favorite in one-design fleets across the U.S. (Great Lakes, Florida, West Coast). The S2 7.9 Class Association (s79.org) remains active with national championships, PHRF ratings of ~168–180, and a reputation as one of the best 26-footers ever built.
