S2 9.1 Meter Pre 2/16/84
Description
The S2 9.1 Meter (also known as the S2 9.1) is an American racer-cruiser sailboat designed by Graham & Schlageter as a Midget Ocean Racing Club (MORC)-oriented performer under 30 feet, built by S2 Yachts in Holland, Michigan; production began in 1983 and continued until 1987 with a total of approximately 128 boats constructed, emphasizing a blend of competitive racing capability and comfortable cruising features. The fiberglass monohull features a fin keel with transom-hung rudder, masthead sloop rig (with early pre-February 16, 1984 models equipped with a shorter "short mast" or SM variant approximately 1.3 ft shorter than later standard tall rigs for rating or handling preferences), reverse transom, and a practical interior layout sleeping 4-6 with V-berth forward, settee berths (convertible), quarter berth aft, compact galley, enclosed head, navigation station, and good headroom; it offers responsive, fast performance especially in light air due to its generous sail area, solid construction with balsa-cored deck elements, good stability, and a reputation for balanced handling suitable for club racing, one-design fleets (though limited), or coastal cruising with an inboard diesel auxiliary.
