Ruffian 8.5 Meter
Description
The RUFFIAN 8.5 METER is a distinguished 28-foot (8.5 meter) cruiser-racer designed by Billy Brown in Northern Ireland as the larger sister to the highly successful RUFFIAN 23. Built by Ruffian Yachts starting in the mid-1970s through the 1980s, this vessel earned itself a reputation as an excellent seaboat with outstanding sailing performance. Her generous sail plan delivers excellent light-air performance, making it equally suitable for club racing or family cruising. The design philosophy emphasized creating a very roomy yacht with full standing headroom while maintaining the seaworthiness that made the RUFFIAN series famous in challenging Irish Sea conditions.
