Roberts TS 18 (Adventurer)
Description
The Bruce Roberts TS 18, commonly known as the Adventurer, is a compact trailerable daysailer and pocket cruiser designed by Bruce Roberts in the 1980s, emphasizing shallow-draft versatility for exploring rivers, lakes, and coastal waters. At just under 19 feet LOA, it's perfect for solo or family outings, with two main versions: the centerboard model (Version A) for ultra-shallow access (10" draft raised) and the fixed-keel variant (Version B) for simpler trailering and stability. Built for DIY enthusiasts, it supports fiberglass (C-Flex, single skin, or foam sandwich) or cold-molded wood-epoxy construction, delivering a lightweight, responsive performer with a fractional sloop rig and sail options from a small jib to a 165 ft² asymmetrical spinnaker. Plans include full-size patterns, trailer designs, a nesting dinghy, and a 50-page detail folio with photos of completed builds—ideal for builders on a budget, with total costs often under $10,000. Note that there is a masthead rig and a fractional rig. These measurements are for the former.
