Description
The Bruce Roberts Spray 36, from the Centennial Spray series designed by Bruce Roberts-Goodson in 1982, is a heavy-displacement bluewater ketch celebrated for its seaworthy long-keel hull, roomy accommodations, and split rig that promotes balanced handling and easy short-handed sailing, with thousands of Sprays influencing this model for coastal or offshore family cruising. The ketch configuration—featuring a shorter main mast and dedicated mizzen—reduces weather helm in gusts and allows progressive sail reduction, complementing the cutter or sloop options for versatility; built primarily in round-bilge steel or wood-epoxy (multi-chine steel/aluminum or fiberglass available), it includes customizable layouts like center cockpit, trunk cabin, aft cockpit pilothouse, or poop stern, sleeping 4–6 in a voluminous interior with U-galley and nav station, powered by a 20–33 hp diesel auxiliary, and with build costs around $80,000–$150,000.
