Rascal

Rascal

Description

The Rascal 14 is a classic American sailing dinghy designed by Ray Greene. Built by Ray Greene & Co. from 1961 onward (with production continuing under licensees like Spindrift until the 1980s), approximately 3,000 hulls were produced. It's a lightweight, trailerable centerboard daysailer renowned for its simplicity, speed in 5–15 knots, and ease of handling for beginners or families, with a fractional sloop rig for balanced performance on lakes, bays, or calm coastal waters. The fiberglass construction offers durability, while the open cockpit and low freeboard make it forgiving yet tippy in gusts; a later Rascal II variant (post-1965) added minor hull refinements for better stability.
