Ranger 30

Description

The Ranger 30 is a sleek, performance-focused fiberglass racer/cruiser sloop designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and built by Ranger Yachts in Costa Mesa, California, from 1977 to 1979. Only about 70 units were produced, reflecting its niche appeal as a late-1970s evolution of Hunt's IOR-influenced designs, blending racing speed with practical cruising features. Sharing DNA with contemporaries like the O'Day 30 (both under Bangor Punta ownership), it features a taller rig and deeper keel for superior upwind performance and stability. Praised for its handsome lines, responsive handling, and no-frills efficiency, the Ranger 30 quickly became a club racing favorite while offering weekend cruising comforts—ideal for competitive sailors seeking a balance of thrill and usability without excess weight or complexity.
