Ranger 12

Description

The Ranger 12 is a compact, fiberglass lapstrake sailing dinghy built in the 1970s by Ranger Boats in Kent, Washington, under owner "Smitty" (Howard Smith), as a direct copy of a classic English racing class wooden dinghy whose mold was brought stateside by a local pilot. Produced in limited numbers alongside siblings like the 9-foot Minto and larger Rangers (16-26 feet), it's designed as a versatile daysailer, tender, and rowing boat for 1-2 adults or a small family, emphasizing stability, dryness in chop, and ease of trailering or launching. With a simple sloop rig, heavy steel centerboard for ballast, and oarlocks for sculling, it's ideal for coastal bays, lakes, or exercise rowing in the Pacific Northwest
