Plas-Trend 32 (PT 32)
Description
The Plas-Trend 32, also known as the PT-32, is a performance-oriented American cruising sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Britton Chance Jr. in collaboration with Andy Green and first built in 1973 by Plastrend Corporation (later Composite Technologies/Island Yacht Corp.) in Fort Worth, Texas. This vessel emerged as a direct response to revisions in the International Offshore Rule (IOR), representing a lengthened and modified version of the earlier PT-30 model specifically designed to accommodate these rule changes. The boat was crafted to excel on the racecourse while offering a capable platform for cruising, reflecting the era's focus on competitive sailing and advanced composite construction. Built with fiberglass construction using advanced composite technologies, the PT-32 features a fin keel with spade rudder configuration and masthead sloop rig. Production began in 1973, though exact numbers built remain unclear.
