Prindle 15

Prindle 15

Description

The Prindle 15 is a sophisticated beach catamaran designed by Geoffrey Prindle and built by Performance Catamarans Inc. (originally Prindle/Lear Siegler Marine) starting in 1978. This 15-foot cat was positioned as a modern, refined alternative to the ubiquitous Hobie 14, featuring asymmetric hull technology that allows the hulls themselves to generate lift while sailing upwind. The boat is characterized by its "teardrop" hull profile, which provides significant buoyancy in the bows—a strategic design element intended to reduce the tendency to pitchpole (nose-dive) in heavy air. Built in fiberglass construction, it's classified as an ultralight sailboat with very high-performance characteristics.
