Precision 15

Precision 15

Description

The Precision 15 (also known as the Precision 15 CB for centerboard version or Precision 15 K for keel version) is a popular American trailerable daysailer and small cruiser designed by naval architect Jim Taylor and built by Precision Boat Works (USA) starting in 1995. It remains in production or has seen consistent builds/among enthusiasts into recent years, with hundreds constructed (exact quantity untracked but widespread in the small sailboat community, often praised as an excellent family starter boat, trainer, or lake/inshore daysailer). Construction uses fiberglass with a foam core in deck and hull for lightness and stiffness, featuring a broad beam for stability, high freeboard and coamings to resist swamping, self-bailing cockpit, positive flotation, large bench seats accommodating 4 comfortably, optional tabernacle mast for easy rigging, and either a centerboard (shallow draft for beaching/trailering) or fixed keel variant for better upwind performance and stability. It's renowned for forgiving handling, quick and responsive sailing even in light air, dry ride, ease of single-handing, and family-friendly features like roomy cockpit and simple fractional sloop rig.
