Plas Trend 30
Description
The Plas Trend 30 is a classic coastal cruiser designed by Britton Chance and built by Plas Trend Boats (later Plastrend/Composite Technologies) in the United States. Two main variants were produced: the PT-30-1 from 1968 and the PT-30-2 from 1970-1973, with the primary difference being a deeper rudder on the later model to improve handling characteristics. This moderate displacement sailboat features fiberglass construction with a fin keel and rudder on skeg configuration, designed as a reasonably good performer that's very stable with excellent righting capability if capsized. The design is noted as being almost a mirror image of the Chance 30-30, reflecting Britton Chance's consistent design philosophy during this era. Built during the 1970s when fiberglass construction quality was considered excellent, these boats are well-regarded for their solid construction with very little wood and no core materials in most areas.
