Palmer Johnson 48 (PJ 48)
Description
The PJ 48 is a classic blue-water cruising sailboat designed by the legendary Sparkman & Stephens (design #2079) and originally built by Nautor in Finland starting in 1971. The first six boats of this design were exported to the United States, finished by Palmer Johnson, and sold as the PJ-48. A total of 46 boats were built between 1971 and 1976. This substantial yacht was also marketed as the Swan 48 (S&S) and PJ-50/Swan 50 with traditional counter variations. The boat features fiberglass construction with a fin keel and rudder on skeg configuration, designed as a performance cruiser offering spacious accommodations and excellent seakeeping abilities. Her generous sail plan delivers excellent light-air performance, making her a true blue water cruiser capable of comfortable ocean passages.
