Description
The Perry 47 (also known as the Litton 47 or Universal 47) is a classic bluewater cruiser designed by renowned naval architect Robert H. Perry and built by Universal Marine Ltd. (Taiwan) primarily in the late 1970s (examples from 1977–1979 documented). It features fiberglass construction, a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for reliable tracking and protection, a cutter or ketch rig (with center or aft cockpit versions available), and spacious, comfortable interiors suited to extended offshore cruising (often with teak joinery, multiple cabins, and good storage/headroom). The design emphasizes seaworthiness, solid build quality (solidly constructed production offshore cruiser, some with proven circumnavigations), and balanced performance in varied conditions; it's a semi-custom or limited-production model from Perry's early Taiwanese collaborations, now long out of production.
