Passport 41
Description
The Passport 41 is a respected bluewater cruiser designed by Robert Perry (building on the success of his Passport 40 with refinements like a taller rig for improved sail plan and performance) and built by Passport Yachts Inc. (primarily in Taiwan by yards such as King Dragon or Hai Yang) from 1987 to 1989. It features solid fiberglass construction, a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for reliable tracking and protection, a masthead sloop rig, a molded swim platform/sugar scoop transom (added for easier boarding and contemporary feel compared to earlier models), and high-quality teak interiors with spacious, comfortable layouts suited to long-distance passage making and liveaboard use (emphasizing good motion in a seaway, storage, and a secure cockpit). Production was short and limited (estimated low dozens of hulls, far fewer than the Passport 40's 148), now long out of production but prized as a rare, well-regarded Perry design with excellent seaworthiness, balance, and speed in moderate conditions; examples often feature custom upgrades like no teak decks for lower maintenance.
