Parker 21
Description
The Parker 21 (also known as the Parker 21 Trailer Sailer 21) is a compact, versatile trailerable lifting-keel sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Ron Holland and built by Parker Yachts (UK) (G.W. Parker & Son, a family-run yard in Essex, UK, with a history in wooden boatbuilding that shifted to fiberglass) from approximately 1982 to 1998. It evolved from earlier designs like the MiniSeal, featuring robust fiberglass construction, a lifting keel (swing or drop keel for shallow draft and easy trailering/launching), fractional sloop rig, transom-hung rudder, and a practical 4-berth layout with sitting headroom, galley, and enclosed head suitable for coastal cruising, weekending, or club racing; the lifting keel allows beaching and access to shallow waters while providing good stability and performance when down (with some owners noting its angled drop aids cabin space). Production was limited (exact numbers not widely documented but in the low hundreds based on class association activity), with an active owners' group (Parker & Seal Sailing Association) that shares manuals, tips, and events; it's now long out of production but valued for its seaworthiness (Category C inshore rating), light-air capability, and ease of handling/solo sailing.
