Ontario28 / 29

Description

The Ontario 28/29 (essentially the same hull, marketed as 28 early and 29 later), designed by C&C Design Group and built by Ontario Yachts in Canada from 1978 to 1985 with ~120 hulls produced, is a versatile 28.5-foot performance cruiser featuring a 10.0-foot beam, 24.0-foot waterline, and a 5.25-foot fin keel (or optional 4.25-foot shoal) carrying 3,800 pounds of lead ballast in a moderate 8,500-pound displacement for solid stability, a comfort ratio of 23–27, and a capsize screening value under 1.95. Its masthead sloop rig delivers 460 square feet of sail area for a spirited SA/D of ~18.0 and PHRF ratings around 180–195, blending quick coastal performance with surprising seaworthiness.
