OMEGA 36
Description
The Omega 36 is a high-performance fiberglass cruising sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Ron Holland and built by Family Boats (also associated with AB Bröderna Börjesson or similar Swedish yards like Broderna Börjesson) in Sweden, with production running from 1985 to 1991. This fractional sloop (7/8 rig) was produced in approximately 210 units, known for its lightweight yet strong sandwich construction (often balsa-cored), excellent sailing characteristics, fast and responsive handling, and quality Swedish craftsmanship that set standards in the mid-1980s for racer-cruisers capable of coastal or offshore use. It features a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for good tracking and protection, a spacious interior with 4 cabins/8 berths, galley, and practical layout for comfortable cruising, along with impressive upwind performance and versatility (often equipped for spinnaker or gennaker downwind).
