O'Day Widgeion

Description

Designed by Robert H. Baker and built by O'Day Corp. (USA) from 1964 to around 1980, the Widgeon 12 is a compact, trailerable dinghy praised for its responsiveness and ease of use. It's not a traditional sneakbox but shares similar traits: shallow draft for beaching, lightweight construction, and simple rigging. It was a "Gold Medal" fleet favorite, often used for sail training, family outings, or casual racing with a Portsmouth Yardstick handicap of 122.6. Length: 12'4" Beam: 5' Draft: Centerboard up 5" down 3'6" Sail area: 90 sq. ft.
