Description
The O'Day 30, designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and built by O'Day Corp. from 1977 to 1984 with 356 hulls produced, is a versatile American coastal cruiser and racer renowned for its spacious accommodations, balanced performance, and value in the used market, featuring a masthead sloop rig, fin keel with spade rudder (or optional shoal-draft keel/centerboard drawing 3.5 feet up/7.18 feet down), and a sleek hull that handles well in moderate seas with predictable stability and a comfortable motion. Measuring 29.92 feet LOA with a 10.67-foot beam, 25.42-foot waterline, 9,500-pound displacement balanced by 3,800 pounds of ballast, and 453 square feet of sail area powered by a Yanmar 18-21 HP diesel auxiliary, it achieves hull speeds around 6.8 knots and excels in club racing or family weekends, with owners praising its roomy interior offering V-berth forward, saloon settees, convertible dinette, and quarter berth for up to six berths under 6'2" headroom.
