O'Day 26
Description
The O'Day 26, designed by C. Raymond Hunt and Associates and produced by O'Day Corp. from 1983 to 1985 with 85 hulls built, is a compact, trailerable American pocket cruiser optimized for coastal day sailing and weekend overnights in protected waters, featuring a masthead sloop rig, keel/centerboard configuration for versatile drafts (2.50 ft up to 6.00 ft), and a fiberglass hull that delivers balanced, forgiving performance with good stability in moderate chop—owners appreciate its roomy cockpit, easy single-handing, and value as a starter boat, though its limited headroom and production run make it less common than siblings like the O'Day 25. With a sharp entry and moderate beam, it planes in building winds up to 6.2 knots hull speed, powered by an outboard up to 15 HP or optional inboard diesel, and includes a cozy interior with V-berth forward, saloon settees, and quarter berth for up to four under 5'6" headroom, plus a basic galley and head.
