Description
The O'Day 20, designed by C. Raymond Hunt Associates and built by O'Day Corp. from 1976 to 1980 with approximately 300 hulls produced, is a compact, trailerable American pocket cruiser celebrated for its spacious accommodations relative to its size, simple handling, and stable performance in protected waters like lakes and bays, featuring a masthead sloop rig, keel/centerboard configuration for drafts from 1.17 to 3.92 feet, and a sharpie-inspired fiberglass hull that minimizes rolling while allowing easy trailering under 3,000 pounds total. Measuring 19.58 feet LOA with a 7.00-foot beam, 17.25-foot waterline, 2,350-pound displacement balanced by 400 pounds of ballast, and 190 square feet of sail area powered by a 6-9.9 HP outboard auxiliary, it sails briskly up to 5.5 knots in moderate winds with a forgiving helm ideal for families or solo sailors, boasting an interior with V-berth forward, saloon settees, and quarter berth sleeping up to four under 5'10" headroom, complete with a portable head and small galley.
