Ocean Lord 41
Description
The Oceanlord 41 (also known as Westerly Oceanlord 41) is a premium British bluewater center-cockpit cruiser built by Westerly Yachts Ltd. (later Westerly Marine Construction Ltd.) in Hamble, UK, from 1989 to 1997 (with some sources noting production into the early 2000s under Lloyd's approved scantlings). It was designed by Ed Dubois (a leading British architect for seaworthy family cruisers) in collaboration with Westerly's in-house designer Mike Parham (who handled many Westerly projects at the time). An extended development of the Westerly Sealord, it emphasized robust construction, genuine offshore capability, spacious liveaboard accommodations, and comfort—often compared to Hallberg-Rassy in build quality but at a more accessible price point. Approximately 100 hulls were built, making it relatively uncommon but highly regarded among owners for safety, seaworthiness, and incredible interior volume (center cockpit for protection, typically 2–3 cabins with 6–8 berths, generous galley, heads, nav station, and ample tankage/storage). It's praised as a proven bluewater cruiser (many completed ocean crossings, ARC rallies, etc.) with strong light-air performance, reassuring stability, and enduring appeal—still actively sailed and upgraded today.
