Description
The North Wind 47 is a robust fiberglass bluewater cruising sailboat designed by Italian naval architect Marcelo Penna and built by the Spanish yard North Wind Yachts (Barcelona) starting in 1988. With limited production (exact numbers scarce, but fewer than 50 units based on listings), it's a center-cockpit masthead sloop renowned for its seaworthiness, balanced handling in heavy weather, and luxurious accommodations—ideal for family ocean passages. The fin keel with partial skeg-hung rudder provides stability and rudder protection, while the generous sail plan excels in light to moderate winds. The interior sleeps 6-8 in 3 cabins (master aft with en-suite, V-berth forward, guest double amidships), featuring a U-shaped galley, spacious saloon with dinette and settees, two heads (one with shower), and a nav station—all finished in high-quality teak.
