North Star 500

Description

The North Star 500 is a classic fiberglass masthead sloop designed by the renowned firm Sparkman & Stephens (design #2135) and built by North Star Yachts Ltd. in Canada from 1973 to 1975. Approximately 50 units were produced as an IOR 1/4-Ton Cup racer-cruiser, with a variant built in Finland as the Blue Bird 25. It features a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for protected steering and balanced performance, emphasizing speed and agility for club racing or coastal day sailing. The compact interior is basic yet functional for 2-4: V-berth forward, settee berths in the saloon, small galley area, and portable head under modest headroom (~5'10"). Original power was a Universal Atomic 4 gasoline inboard (25 hp).
