Norseman 447
Description
The Norseman 447 is a classic fiberglass bluewater cruising sailboat designed by renowned naval architect Robert Perry and built by Norseman Yachts Inc. (with some production by Ta Shing Yacht Building Ltd. in Taiwan) from 1980 to 1986. A total of 55 units were produced, featuring a center cockpit layout for safety and privacy during ocean passages, a fin keel with skeg-hung rudder for balanced handling and protection, and a cutter rig for versatile sail reduction in heavy weather. Known for its robust construction (Airex foam-cored hull and deck for stiffness and insulation), spacious teak-finished interior (V-berth forward, U-shaped galley, large saloon with convertible settees, nav station, enclosed head with shower, and aft quarter berth—sleeping 6-7 comfortably), and seaworthy performance, it's a favorite for long-distance voyaging. Standard power was a Perkins 4-154 diesel (61 hp).
