Norlin 37
Description
The Norlin 37 is a classic Swedish performance cruiser-racer designed by Peter Norlin (a leading Swedish naval architect of the 1970s–1980s IOR era, known for elegant, competitive designs like the Scampi and others). Built by Solna Marine in Sweden starting in 1972, it was produced in moderate numbers (likely 100–200 hulls across variants, including a Mk II with refinements), featuring solid fiberglass (GRP) construction with a fin keel and skeg-hung rudder for balanced handling, protection, and good tracking. Originally conceived as a one-ton racer with typical IOR hull features (ample beam, elegant overhangs, sleek stern), it evolved into a versatile cruiser with excellent seaworthiness, reassuring stability in all conditions, and a generous sail plan for strong light-air performance. The interior is practical and well-finished (typically 2 cabins with 6 berths, galley, heads, and good storage/tankage for coastal or offshore use), and it's praised for outstanding performance even in heavy winds, easy sailing, and timeless beauty—many examples remain actively sailed and upgraded today.
