Nord 12

Description

The Nordex Nord 12 (also known as the Nord 12) is a rare, compact fiberglass scow sailboat produced by Nordex in the United States during the 1970s, with production details scarce—likely fewer than a few hundred units, based on owner reports of its uncommon status. Closely resembling the popular Melges Butterfly in design and performance, it features a flat-bottomed scow hull for planing speed and stability, a single centerboard for adjustable draft, and a transom that allows easy beaching or self-bailing. Available in three rig configurations (lateen for simplicity like a Sunfish, cat rig for power, or sloop for versatility), it's a lively daysailer or training boat for 2-3 people, excelling in light to moderate winds on small lakes or bays. Construction is foam-filled fiberglass for buoyancy and durability, making it unsinkable and low-maintenance.
