Description
The Nimble Kodiak (also known as the Nimble Kodiak 24 or Kodiak 26 in some listings) is a charming, trailerable American pilothouse motorsailer/cruiser designed by Ted Brewer (a prolific designer of practical pocket cruisers like the Nimble 25/30 series). Built by Nimble Boat Works Inc. (Clearwater, Florida, USA) starting in the late 1990s (with examples from ~1998 onward), production was limited (likely low dozens to under 100 hulls, based on rarity in markets and owner communities). It features solid fiberglass (GRP) construction with a double-ended hull, short low-aspect rig (masthead sloop or yawl options for easy handling), pilothouse for all-weather protection and visibility, keel/centerboard (or fixed shoal keel) for variable draft and trailering/beaching, inboard diesel auxiliary (~10–20 hp) for reliable motorsailing, and a cozy interior (typically 4 berths with V-forward, settees, galley, enclosed head, and good storage/tankage for weekend or gunkholing cruises). It's renowned for versatility (sails decently, motors well, stable in chop, and opens up shallow-water exploring), ruggedness, and a trawler-like charm in a compact package—praised in reviews.
