Nible 30 Yawl
Description
The Nimble 30 (commonly referred to as the Nimble 30 Yawl or Nimble 30 Canoe Yawl) is a classic American pocket cruiser/yawl designed by renowned naval architect Ted Brewer. Built by Nimble Boats Works Inc. (Clearwater, Florida, USA) from 1985 to 1997, only about 29 hulls were produced in fiberglass (GRP) with a double-ended canoe stern, full keel (or keel/centerboard variant for shoal draft), and traditional aesthetics blended with a modern hull for better performance and handling. It features a masthead yawl rig (main + small mizzen for easy shorthanded sailing, balance, and heavy-weather versatility—all lines often led aft to the cockpit), robust construction emphasizing seaworthiness and comfort, and a spacious, well-finished interior (typically 4–6 berths with V-forward, settees, galley, enclosed head, and good storage/tankage for weekend or extended coastal/liveaboard cruising). It's praised for excellent stability (stiff despite moderate displacement), comfortable motion in rough conditions, motorsailing ability (inboard diesel auxiliary ~16–27 hp, e.g., Yanmar or Beta Marine), and timeless beauty—ideal for gunkholing, shallow-water exploring, or protected passages—still actively sailed and maintained by a dedicated owner community.
