Morgan OI 41
Description
The Morgan Out Island 41, designed by Charles Morgan and produced by Morgan Yachts from 1972 to 1978 with approximately 200 hulls built, is a legendary American full-keel coastal cruiser renowned for its exceptional liveaboard volume, shallow-draft seaworthiness, and center-cockpit layout that prioritizes family comfort and stability during Bahamas gunkholing, ICW transits, or moderate offshore passages in winds up to 25 knots—featuring a masthead sloop or ketch rig on a long encapsulated lead keel with skeg-hung rudder for gentle motion and directional stability (PHRF around 150), though its beamy hull favors relaxed cruising over speed (hull speed 7.8 knots). Owners adore its cavernous teak interior with V-berth forward, U-shaped galley, spacious saloon settees, nav station, private aft stateroom with en-suite head, and forward guest cabin sleeping up to 8 under 6'4" headroom, bolstered by ample tankage (100+ gal water, 60+ gal fuel) for self-sufficiency, typically powered by a Perkins 4-108 diesel (40 HP) for reliable motoring at 6-7 knots; while the later OI 41 Classic refined the hull with a fin keel, this original excels in skinny waters at just 4.17 feet draft.
