The Morgan Out Island 37/372, a development of the popular OI 36 series designed by Charles Luallen and produced by Morgan Yachts from 1976 to 1979 with around 50 hulls built, is a robust American coastal cruiser tailored for shallow-draft Bahamas gunkholing and family liveaboard comfort, featuring a masthead sloop rig (ketch optional), long encapsulated keel with skeg-hung rudder drawing just 3.80 feet, and a wide-beam fiberglass hull that prioritizes stability and interior volume over speed for relaxed passages in protected waters up to 20-knot winds. Measuring 37 feet LOA with an 11.42-foot beam, 28.25-foot waterline, 18,000-pound displacement balanced by 7,500 pounds of lead ballast, and 545 square feet of sail area powered by a Perkins or Westerbeke diesel auxiliary (around 40 HP) for motoring at 6-7 knots, it offers a center-cockpit layout with V-berth forward, U-shaped galley, saloon settees, nav station, and quarter berth sleeping up to 7 under 6'4" headroom, plus dual heads and generous tankage for extended weekends.
