Description
The Morgan Out Island 36 Ketch, designed by Charles Morgan and produced by Morgan Yachts from 1973 to 1976 as a ketch-rigged variant of the popular Out Island 36 series (with approximately 100 total hulls built across configurations, the ketch being a smaller subset), is a sturdy American coastal cruiser emphasizing liveaboard comfort, shallow-draft stability, and easy short-handed sailing in protected waters or moderate passages—featuring a masthead ketch rig that splits sail area for balanced power, long encapsulated lead keel with skeg-hung rudder for forgiving handling (PHRF 217), and a wide-beam fiberglass hull that delivers a gentle motion and hull speed of 7 knots, though owners note it's more suited for gunkholing than high-performance racing.
