Morgan OI 30

Description

The Morgan Out Island 30, designed by Ted Brewer and produced by Morgan Yachts from 1976 to 1978 in a limited run of about 20 hulls, is a compact American coastal cruiser in the Out Island series, prioritizing shallow-draft stability, roomy accommodations, and easy handling for family weekends or gunkholing in protected waters like the ICW or Bahamas—featuring a masthead sloop rig on a long encapsulated keel with skeg-hung rudder for forgiving motion in moderate winds (up to 20 knots) and a fiberglass hull that echoes the series' liveaboard ethos but in a more trailerable package, though its moderate sail area limits speed to around 6.7 knots hull speed. Owners value its teak interior with V-berth forward, saloon settees, galley, and quarter berth sleeping up to 5 under 6'2" headroom, plus a head and modest tankage (40-gal water, 18-gal fuel), typically powered by a Universal Atomic 4 gas inboard (30 HP) for motoring at 5-6 knots.
