Montagu Whaler

Montagu Whaler

Description

The Montagu Whaler (often just called a Montagu or naval whaler) is a legendary classic wooden open boat from the Royal Navy — the standard ship's sea boat from around 1910 to the 1970s. Designed (or significantly improved) in the late 19th/early 20th century by retired Rear Admiral The Honourable Victor Alexander Montagu, it evolved from earlier whaling boats into a tough, versatile double-ended clinker-built craft for oar pulling, sailing, and utility/rescue duties.
