Mirage 8.25 (Mirage 27 Schmidt)

Description

The Mirage 8.25, also known as the Mirage 27 (Schmidt), is a classic Canadian coastal cruiser-racer designed by Peter Schmidt and built by Mirage Yachts Ltd. (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) starting in 1975. This fiberglass masthead sloop features a modern hull shape with a fine entry, wide beam for stability and interior space, and a spade rudder for agile handling, making it suitable for family cruising, club racing, or weekend overnights accommodating 4–5 people. The interior includes a V-berth forward, saloon with settees, galley, nav station, and enclosed head. It's powered by a small diesel inboard, with optional shoal draft available. Approximately 100–150 were built before production shifted to other models; it's noted for its balanced performance (SA/D 19.1) and seaworthiness in moderate conditions.
