Mirage 30SX

Description

The Mirage 30SX is a high-performance Canadian cruiser-racer designed by Bruce Kirby and built by Mirage Yachts Ltd. (Pointe-Claire, Quebec) starting in 1985, serving as a lighter, more agile variant of the Kirby 30 with a fractional sloop rig, deeper elliptical fin keel and spade rudder for enhanced upwind speed, and a sporty cockpit layout optimized for racing while providing basic cruising comforts for 4–5 aboard in a fiberglass hull featuring a saloon with settees, compact galley, nav station, and enclosed head. With only a handful produced before the yard's closure, it's prized for its responsive handling (SA/D ~20.3) and seaworthiness in moderate conditions, powered by a reliable Bukh diesel inboard; owners on forums highlight its dry ride and ease of single handing.
