The Mirage 28 Tall Rig, also known as the Kelley 28, is a rare American MORC (Midget Ocean Racing Club) racer designed by Bruce Kelley and built by Mirage Manufacturing (USA) starting in 1980, with only about 14 hulls produced as a custom, high-performance fractional/masthead sloop optimized for inshore handicap racing with its lightweight fiberglass fin-keel hull, spade rudder, and powerful tall masthead rig for superior light-air performance. This 27.5-foot LOA boat emphasizes speed and agility (PHRF ~141, SA/D 17.6–21.1) over comfort, featuring a wide 9.18 ft beam for stability and form stability, but with basic accommodations for 4 (V-berth forward, settee berths, minimal galley/head) suited to short races or day sails rather than extended cruising; it's noted for rewarding skilled sailors in light winds but struggling in heavy air, with a pinched stern limiting reaching ability.
