Mertens V-12 Dinghy

Mertens V-12 Dinghy

Description

The Mertens-Goossens V-12 Dinghy (also known as the V-Bottom Dinghy V12) is a Belgian-designed small tender and daysailer by naval architect Jacques Mertens-Goossens, intended for multi-purpose use on calm waters like ponds, small lakes, or sheltered harbors. Introduced in the early 2000s as an amateur builder's project, it features a V-bottom hull for better handling in light chop compared to flat-bottom prams, using stitch-and-glue plywood construction with epoxy and fiberglass for simplicity and durability. Mertens, a Belgian designer with over 100 small craft plans, created it for DIY enthusiasts during the plywood boat revival, with full plans available from Boat Builder Central and study plans for free download.
