Maxi Mixer
Description
The Maxi Mixer (commonly known as the Maxi Mixer 35) is a capable Swedish racer-cruiser designed by the legendary Pelle Petterson (Olympic medalist and designer of the entire Maxi series). Built by Maxi Yachts (Pelle Petterson AB) from 1981/1983 to around 1985–1989, with a few hundred hulls produced (estimates vary from ~200–400). The name "Mixer" reflects Petterson's concept of blending cruiser comfort with racer performance—hence uniting the two worlds in one boat. This is a fractional (7/8) sloop with a fin keel and spade rudder, self-tacking jib (standard on most), and lines led aft for easy shorthanded sailing. It offers a generous sail plan for excellent light-air performance, solid stiffness (high ballast ratio), and good stability—making it a lively yet forgiving coastal cruiser with club-racing potential. A variant called the Exclusive Competition featured a flush deck and different keel for more racing focus.
