Designed by Henry Morschadt (sometimes misspelled Mohrschladt) and built by Pacific Seacraft Corporation in the USA, it was produced from 1977 to 1983. The Mk II variant, introduced later in production, features an extended 5-foot bowsprit (up from 4 feet in early models) for improved downwind performance and sail handling. At launch, it was marketed as "the most expensive boat of its size," reflecting its premium materials and tank-like durability—hull thicknesses up to 3 inches at the bilge and 1 inch topsides, with foam-filled fiberglass for buoyancy and strength. It's ideal for solo or couple's long-distance cruising, with a reputation for surviving extreme conditions, including collisions with debris. Over 100 units were built, and it's proven its mettle in global voyages, including solo circumnavigations.
