Macgregor 13' 7" Canoe

Description

MacGregor Canoe (13'7") Overview The MacGregor Canoe is a classic double-ended sailing and paddling canoe designed by Scottish naval architect Iain Oughtred in the 1980s, inspired by 19th-century decked sailing canoes popularized by John "Rob Roy" MacGregor (1825–1892), a pioneering explorer who credited with inventing the modern sailing canoe. Named in homage to MacGregor, this Oughtred design revives the concept with modern glued-lapstrake plywood construction for quick, lofting-free builds. The 13'7" (4.14 m) version is the shortest in the series, offering ultralight portability for solo adventurers on lakes, rivers, or calm coastal waters—ideal as a tender, day sailor, or camp cruiser. It's beamier and more stable than Oughtred's smaller Wee Rob, carrying a lug yawl rig effortlessly while maintaining elegant lines. Plans allow scaling to 14'6", 15'8", or 17'3" by adjusting mold spacing and stems, using the same patterns.

Custom sail calculations are not possible for this boat as no I, J, P and E dimensions are available.
