Luna 24 (Luna SL)

Luna 24 (Luna SL)

Description

The Luna 24 (also known as Luna 24/SL or Luna SL) is a Canadian trailerable pocket cruiser/racer designed by renowned Dutch naval architect E. van de Stadt and built by Luna Yachts (or associated Canadian yards) in the early 1980s (production around 1981 onward, with limited numbers produced). It was marketed as a modern, light-displacement IOR-influenced design with a fine bow, flat bilges, high-aspect fin keel, and spade rudder for responsive performance, combined with practical cruising features like a compact cabin (berths for 4–5, V-berth forward, settees, galley, and heads), good stability, and trailerability (swing keel/centerboard variants in some listings, though standard is fixed). It gained a niche following for its fun sailing characteristics, speed in moderate winds, and value as a daysailer/weekender in northern waters, though not a heavy bluewater boat.
