Luger 30 Ketch

Description

The Luger Voyager 30 Ketch, a variant of the Luger Voyager 30, is a trailerable fiberglass coastal cruiser designed by Eric White and Edwin Monk Jr., built by Luger Industries in Missouri, USA, from 1979 to 1986. Marketed as an affordable kit boat for home completion, it was designed for budget-conscious sailors seeking a versatile weekender with easy trailering and single-handed setup. The ketch rig, featuring a mainmast and smaller mizzenmast, splits the sail area for better balance in light winds and easier handling in heavy conditions compared to the standard sloop version. Its shoal keel with retractable centerboard allows shallow-water access (e.g., beaching or lake cruising), while the generous interior (6'4" headroom) suits families or couples for coastal hops. Approximately 50–100 Voyager 30s were built (fewer as ketches), often paired with custom Holsclaw trailers.
