LeComte Northeast 38 - 3 (1968 to 1970)
Description
The LeComte Northeast 38 Mk III (built 1968-1970) is a classic fiberglass masthead sloop designed by William Tripp Jr. and constructed by the renowned LeComte Yachts in the Netherlands. Approximately 15-20 units of this Mk III variant were produced as part of the broader Northeast 38 series (total ~50 across marks), emphasizing seaworthiness, elegant simplicity, and quality craftsmanship with a solid fiberglass hull, Airex-cored decks for stiffness, and varnished teak interiors. Featuring a fin keel (with some long-keel influences for stability) and spade rudder for responsive handling, it's ideal for coastal cruising or light offshore passages, offering a balanced helm and sea-kindly motion. The interior layout sleeps 4-5 comfortably: V-berth forward, enclosed head with sink/shower, U-shaped galley, saloon with convertible settees, and quarter berth aft, plus a nav station.
