Lancer 25 Mk IV
Description
The Lancer 25 Mk IV (also referred to as Lancer 25 Mark IV) is a mid-series variant of the popular American trailerable cruising sailboat produced by Lancer Yacht Corp. (with construction by Endeavour Yachts under contract) during the late 1970s (around 1978–1980, within the overall Lancer 25 production run from 1975–1984). It evolved from the original Lancer 25 (designed by W. Shad Turner, derived in part from the Columbia T-23 tooling) and preceded the later Lancer 25 Mark V (fractional rig, 1982 onward). The Mk IV features a masthead sloop rig, fiberglass construction with wood trim, raked stem, angled transom, internally mounted spade rudder (tiller steering), and a fixed shoal draft fin keel. It stands out for its impressive standing headroom (about 5'10"–6' in key areas, achieved by dropping the cabin sole into a wide, hollow keel cavity) — unusual for a 25-footer — making it feel roomier below than many competitors like the Catalina 25 or O'Day 25. It's trailerable, easy to launch/ rig (mast stepping in under 30 minutes for some owners), and suited for day sailing, lake/coastal cruising, or light overnights (sleeps 4–6 with long berths).
